Knoxville Brrrr-tanical Gardens

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

We woke early… we headed out to East Knoxville to the Botanical Gardens.
Hats? Check.
3 layers of sweatshirts? check.
Ski jacket? Check.
The temperature– 40 degrees. Brrr!! But seriously, the last week of these leaves in such a beautiful setting…like we were going to miss THAT?!

Her mom and dad say that Tessa never really cries. And I have to testify that even after 45 minutes freezing her tush off, she only started a mild whine. This kiddo is TOUGH. Thankfully we had our warm cars, lots of heat and lots more smiles to go around. Tessa is 1!! And my heavens, isn’t she adorable!!? Enjoy!! (more…)

spoonfuls of marketing

I woke up yesterday thinking –birthdays are always about the one who was BORN on that day but little is acknowledged for the person/people who BIRTHED that day. Does anyone else ever think that? For some reason, probably since I’m now a mom, I always do. So, mad props to my mom for going through the 9 months (nevermind the 33years) to literally carry me around and then the hours of labor to deliver me to this world many moons ago. And to dad for the multiple trips to the grocery to buy pepperoncinis in bulk.

love you guys.

So you probably gather from my previous posts (and the name of my business) that anything involving sweets is a favorite day in my calendar year. Birthdays especially since

I.                           LOVE.                             CAKE.

There is a special place in my heart for butter and sugar and vanilla (the chair I sit in can contest). I eat icing by the spoonful. This day is the greatest exc (more…)

Happy Birthday, priddysweet

Friday, February 11th, 2011

The FIRST order of duty is to stop and give HUGE thanks to my incredible web-design team over at Warbux. Without them, well… priddysweet.com would not exist!!! Literally. Priddysweet was Chad’s creative genius so when you think of how cool everything is on the site (including the name!!)–> think Chad. He is that awesome. {thanks, Warbux!!} If you need a website (or even just WANT one) you MUST check out Warbux. Seriously… THE best.

So yes. On this anniversary of our debut, I have to tell you something: I actually always wanted to be a painter. (My Gram is an awesome painter and our family is full of artists (and entrepreneurs) on my mom’s side). I am here: a masters degree in counseling psychology, 10 years of photography trial and error (mostly with film) and about 19 years of horsemanship, dressage and 3 day eventing–>working as a professional photographer. LOL. I guess its close? (no wonder I’m so addicted to canvas).

What do I make of this? The awesomest part is that its clear that God has a plan for me…even amidst all my distractions! I have infused every single element of my life, education and passion into what I do. I love the psychology. I love helping others to see the beauty in themselves and their surroundings. I love helping others to see different perspectives… helping lives to be a little brighter…a little more colorful… the way an artist does. And can it get any better than doing all of this with a horse?

This work has brought me more joy and more fulfillment than any other job I’ve had in my past… so much fulfillment that if I could afford to do it, I would to it without pay. THAT is how I know this is for me. I thank the Lord (daily) for the ability to live life to the fullest and pursue this passion of helping others. Thank you for the unending support, encouragement and especially for the smiles that grace my walls. YOU are the magic that makes this whole ride worthwhile! {the rest is just technical} 😉

Happy Birthday, Priddysweet!!! Here’s to many more!!

at brandon’s suggestion, we will be making a brownie cake with light blue icing to celebrate this weekend. haha!!

5, 3, 2 and 1

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

This past weekend was a whirlwind of activity around here… hence the delay in posting. (sorry!) :) Brandon and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary and both girls AND their baby cousin had birthdays!! My girls are 363 days apart and born the week before Christmas (starting the day after our anniversary). 😉 I know what you’re thinking– WHO PLANS all these major events so close to Christmas? Well, we do. I mean, IS THERE more of an honor than to share a “birthday week” with Jesus? I don’t think so! :) We enjoyed having everyone in town and celebrating baby Caroline’s first birthday too… and another VERY special milestone for the Mullen family!!

This video is guaranteed to make me bawl in about 15 years (in addition to every time I watch it now). :) They’re growing up too fast!!! :(
