To me, there is no more horrifying moment than the minutes before____________. (Fill in the blank with your choice of something scheduled). I loathe countdowns. They make me nervous and frankly, just upset. When I rode my cross country test in my very first (beginner novice) event (completely decked out with all but alternating colored clackity bell boots), I asked my trainer if she would kindly ask the guy officiating the start box to NOT do the 10 second countdown for me…he could just tell me when to go by saying “ok. go.” (I got some funny looks that day…and for more than just that reason. A simple glance at the outfit to the left can shed some light on that.) πŸ˜‰

Eventually I got used to the start box countdown (by tuning it out) but I never have really gotten over countdowns in general. Its only been by accident that I recently figured out why. The way I see it lately is that counti (more…)

We woke up at 5:20am. Armed with a 2 tea cakes and a half a dozen lemon cookies from Ham & Goody’s ,the cameras and some gum, we hopped in the car and headed toward Lexington. A perfectly awesome day, 3 sunburns, 18 hours and 6 sore legs later, we (more…)

January is a time of renewal. We feel fresh and new and revived. We have a “clean slate” so-to-speak. And we resolve to do better… to BE better.

Priddysweet has much on the horizon this year… Surprises will unfold randomly throughout the year (I can’t wait!! truly!!)! Since we are in the time of renewal here in January, it is the perfect time to reveal one of those surprises. Priddysweet wants to recognize those who dedicate themselves to helping others. Whether you donate your time to the soup kitchen, build a habitat house or volunteer for your church, we want to hear about it and share it with others! This is a very special project and it carries a special reward. A panel of priddysweet contributors will judge the winner and if you win, in addition to the prize below, you will be featured on the blog with a detailed report of how you “paid it forward.”

THE AWARD: One priddysweet session for you or a member of your immediate family (a $189 value) PLUS a $200 print credit!!!!!!!!! AND a $50 donation to the charity of your choice!!!!

TO ENTER:

1) Send a one page essay to info@priddysweet.com on the value of community service in your area. What would your contribution do to help others in need? How can YOU make a difference?

2) Include in your application a small photo of yourself as well as

3) your mailing address and

4) phone number.

5) follow @priddysweets on twitter and “like” priddysweet . portraiture . on facebook to get up to date info on the results! And encourage your friends to do the same!

No purchase necessary to win. Only one entry per person, please. Prize has no cash value and cannot be sold or transferred outside of winner’s immediate family. Travel and accommodation fees for out of state winners may apply. Questions? Ask here! :) EVERYONE is encouraged to apply!!! Its for a wonderful cause… your FAVORITE cause!!

Now GO! Do GOOD!! And help others!! The internal reward is even greater than the prize!!

Good luck!

The best of 2010

Friday, December 31st, 2010

This year has been awesome. Amazing. An experience. And I can’t thank you all enough for your support, encouragement and true admiration of my incredibly hard work. It is such an honor to see my art in your homes! I look around as I sit here at my desk, on the last day of this almost too fast first year and I am teary-eyed. Your faces are on my walls. Your memories are held in MY heart as well as your own. Your lives have so greatly touched mine that I can’t leave them hidden on an external hard drive back in 2010… they’re coming along with me into this new year. πŸ˜‰ As I sit here, there is beauty all around me. Your faces, your families, your relationships, your horses.. all just beautiful. I am so blessed. So very, VERY blessed.

So here they are. Here WE are. While you all know it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to pick favorites (its like choosing between my children), I did narrow them down to a few. πŸ˜‰ Thank you, EACH of you… for a most amazing 2010. As we go forward I’m confident that 2011 will be just as incredible. I can’t WAIT for the next series of experiences to unfold!! Happy NEW YEAR to you all!!! Life IS sweet, and I’m so GLAD we’re savoring it!!

World Equestrian Games 2010

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

What a great joy it was to attend the WORLD EQUESTRIAN GAMES 2010!!! Once again, me and Linny hit the road for a horse park adventure (as you remember she’s the reason I GET to these events *Rolex). We got a sitter for the girls (thanks, Katie!!) and headed out Friday morning to the games. Arriving around 4:30pm (we had a few stops to make along the way…one stop including our first tastes of Gold Star Chili), we ran straight for the cross country course walk with Jimmy Wofford. Enlightened (and appropriately nervous for the riders the next morning), we headed to musical freesty (more…)
