What is Faith?

Tuesday, October 16th, 2012

The phone calls this weekend were something we were anxiously awaiting and avoiding at the same time. 4 months of negotiating (and making progress, mind you) left us high and dry as someone else swooped in at the very last second, fell for the seller/seller’s realtor’s scare tactics and put an end to our vision of what would be our next “home.” With a snap it was gone.

“It will be ok,” “You will find another perfect place,” “That just means something even more amazing is around the corner.” yes. I know (and I do truly appreciate). But lets not fool each other.. it doesn’t make it any easier to swallow.

Scouring the internet on Saturday night I came up with no replacement (at least not in our price range). Like a young girl just fresh out of a break up, I was searching for my rebound of a farm home to replace this false security—the feeling that “we knew” where we were ending up. I sat in bed with crocodile tears. I sat in church with crocodile tears (trying not to ruin my mascara). There were lots of tears…and thankfully through them, healing and an “ah-ha” moment.

A voice. Poignant. Truthful and out of the blue: “Is it really faith if you can SEE what is on the other side?”

Silence. More tears and more words: “YOU. DO. NOT. BELIEVE.” (more…)

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

We’re so excited to announce that mini sessions are back in 2012! WOO HOO!!!! And this year, we are including digital items for the first time ever!!!

So what are Mini Sessions?

Mini Sessions are a smaller version of the real thing. They are 30 minute time slots versus the 2-4 hour full session times. They are great times to update photos for Christmas Cards and/or to document the year for scrapbooks/photo journals…even to update your wall art! These mini sessions are also great because they’re a great deal!

Grab your buddies and send an email to: info@priddysweet.com (or CLICK HERE) with the subject “MiniSessions” and we’ll get everyone scheduled! I truly can not wait to see you all and your amazing horses!!!

Questions? Ask me anything!! :)

Find us on facebook too!! See you all VERY SOON!! :)

Awaiting baby Trista {equestrian maternity}

Wednesday, September 12th, 2012

Confession: These are my favorite sessions– the equestrian maternity sessions. And seriously, the light could not have been more gorgeous that evening in west Knoxville (The light paling only in comparison to the gorgeous mom-to-be and her beau, of course). If I could post every single one of these images, I would. This is not a lie. Just ask Arlene.

One of the sweetest and most gracious couples ever are Will and Arlene. I love being around them. I love their sense of humor and how much they love each other. It just seeps out of their pores. They’re truly in love and its SUCH a blessing just to be in their company. Not forgetting about Chester, and “baby” of course (* “baby” has two meanings with this crew…we have a horse named “Baby” as well as a child in the womb also called “baby” at the time…yep. learned that one the hard way* haha!!), this family is just lots and lots of fun.

Arlene and Will awaiting baby Trista– without further ado! Enjoy these! And leave them some comment-love below too! 😉 (more…)

miracle and wonder {the Ennis family}

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

When I sat down to review these images for the first time all I could say was “look at how much they love each other…” And they do. I’m captivated by this family of 3 generations. I adore them. They set up this session as a way to treasure and remember this beautiful farm they’ve called home for the past 16 years. It is an amazing place…one that is difficult to leave even as a visitor. I hope you’ll enjoy a peek inside. (more…)

a craving to create

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

If you’ve tried out pinterest, you’ve seen tons of inspiration and ideas floating all over the place. Ideas on how to decorate your dream house alongside tutorials for creating shamrock wreaths. How to make creative lunches for your children and what workouts best tone your body in 30 days. You name it, it can be found on pinterest. I search far and wide for ideas to decorate and craft and cook but there is one thing I actually avoid when perusing pinterest:: photography. In some ways, I feel like its cheating myself. Every once in awhile something will be re-pinned from people I follow and I will stash it away for inspiration but I really want to be careful. Aside from the whole “plagiarism” mentality poured into our noggins at the elementary level, this borrowing of inspiration from others is what is contributing to (I think) my creative block. How can I CREATE something original if I’m copying someone else’s creations? A light bulb burns dimly above my head. I crave to create, not copy. I crave to create something that is representative of me and who I am– a tangible expression of the insides of Elizabeth that only Elizabeth can produce. My work, my art is an intimate expression of who I am. If I’m not creating, then… am I lying?

I close my eyes and dream a little. I imagine horses galloping across a tall sunlight field at sunset. I see colors: pink, orange, yellow. I see texture: flowing manes, blades of tall grass, dust, dirt. I see light. I see peace. I see inspiration.

My heart starts to soar as I imagine what the image in my mind will look like huge on a wall. This is the essence of creating. I imagine this is what God does when he dreams up a new soul in heaven… This is creation. We are unique. Each and every one of us. And we all have something awesome to contribute. Closing our eyes to the distractions and looking inside will reveal magnificent ideas, stories and images all within our own capacities.

When you close your eyes, what do YOU see?
