…not as in the “correction” way but in the diligence way.

This photo was taken yesterday at 5:15am. It was the first time in a long time I was up in time to see the sun rise (and around here…that’s REALLY EARLY)! The night prior I had a mental breakdown and my sweet husband reminded me that this was a matter of discipline. Somewhere along the way I got off track. The house gets out of order, the items on my desk start to pile up and because I see this, I am unable to unplug and take time to take care of myself and the things that matter. (This is a major problem with ADHD…my (very real) diagnosis…you could see that one coming from afar, huh? LOL).

When a shower is a luxury::things are off track.
When you haven’t had time to get up to go to the gym:: things are off track.
When you can’t take the time to go have a fun evening with your family:: things are off track.

And sometimes that’s what happens. Life just goes that way. But without a fire under your butt and a little discipline, you’re doomed to stay off course. Unfortunately for me (and my other ADHD friends out there) it just keeps getting worse. So, today (and hopefully longer than just this week) I am thankful for the opportunity to focus on staying disciplined and on track. If I can do this:: take care of myself, take care of my marriage and my family and then take care of my business…everything else will fall into place. Its one of the most important lessons I’ve learned thus far in starting a business. Family first. And in order to do that, I have to take care of me. Which means:: showers are no longer a luxury, they’re a requirement. LOL (thank heavens, I know!!) 😉

one foot in front of the other. And when you think to yourself: “I just don’t have time to____ (workout, put on makeup, take a shower, get a pedicure, turn your brain off and watch the bachelorette, or meet a friend for coffee…etc)” Remember, its not an option to take care of yourself, its a requirement. Your family and friends need YOU. Not the shell of you. Be disciplined.

the world keeps on spinnin,

  1. AMEN sista!

I’ve set up a schedule for myself… I only work on work stuff Tuesday – Thursday 8am – 4pm and some Fridays and some evenings. Mondays are always Sienna days, and Sundays are full family days, Saturdays I may have a wedding or have a date with the hubbs. I’ve found if I stick to that schedule, life is much better and more separated. The door to the office is closed any other time of the day/week that isn’t work time. So as not to be tempted. 😉

  2. that is so smart, sara…seriously. Way to stick to it and remember what’s important. 😉

  3. I love this. Thank you for being so candid and open!! Soooooooooooo true.
